3D Glasses - Image via Wikipedia

Quote: “To accept a decree about how you should live your life without being an active participant is like a blind man driving an eighteen wheeler!” – T.D. Jakes

Not too long ago, my family and I went to see a 3D film titled, Ocean Wonderland.  Remembering a frightful experience at another 3D film much earlier in her life, my youngest child was fearful and hesitant to put on her 3D glasses.  Initially, she really didn’t want to have any part of the 3D film experience and was content to see the film blind to the reality of the 3rd dimension; however, once the film started and she witnessed others enjoying the film with the 3D glasses, she began to test the glasses by putting them on and then quickly taking them off.  In so doing, she soon discovered the difference between seeing the film in three dimensions versus two dimensions.  As a result of deciding to put on the 3D glasses, she was much better able to enjoy the film as it was intended to be enjoyed by the film’s creator.

Do you know that we live in a world much like a 3D film where the visible world is in three dimensions and the invisible world around us is in four dimensions or greater?  You can believe it or not, but it is most certainly true because Colossians 1:16 states that “for by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.”  Unfortunately though, many of us are living life blind to the reality of the greater invisible dimensions around us because like my daughter, we are afraid to put on the life lenses of faith that allow us to experience life in the greater dimensions.  For many reasons, we are more content to do life bound to the three dimensions of life that we know and see everyday rather than place our faith and trust in God, our Creator, to do more than we can ask or think of Him in the greater dimensions of our lives.

Are you tired of living life blind to the reality of God to work all things together for good to those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose?  Well then, we must put on life lenses of faith.  Hebrews 11:1 says that “now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  To enjoy the abundant life found in God, we must not let the evidence of the things we see each day determine the reality surrounding our lives and our circumstances, but rather we must reposition ourselves by choosing life and putting faith in what the Lord says in His Word about life and life more abundantly.  The Lord Himself declares in John 6:63, that “it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.”  Additionally, He says that “the words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”; therefore, with a spirit of faith, place your trust in God and the truth of His Word.  As we do, we will begin to discover the greater dimensions of the life God intended for us to enjoy in Him by the power of the Holy Spirit!

The Lord’s Release

Scripture

Deuteronomy 15:1-5 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release. Of a foreigner, you may require it, but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, except where they may be no poor among you; for the Lord will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance – only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today.”

Observation

In these passages of Scripture, God establishes a financial plan among His people that calls for creditors to release anything that is owed to them by their neighbor or their brother at the end of every seven years.  Remaining true to His nature, God takes full ownership and responsibility for such a plan by calling it “the Lord’s release” and He promises to greatly bless His people in their land if they carefully obey His voice and observe His commandments.

Application

In the natural, it may not seem like a wise plan to release a neighbor or a brother from the debts he may owe us as his or her creditor; however, in this situation, the Lord promises to provide His guarantee for the debt by greatly blessing us in the land He has promised to give us as an inheritance.  In this plan, God is modeling in the natural what happens in the supernatural when we forgive our neighbors and our brothers for their trespasses against us and release them from anything they may have done against us. When we obey the voice of the Lord and release others of their debts and trespasses against us, the Lord in turns releases us from the debts and trespasses that we owe Him.  Therefore, by releasing others of their debts, we are actually released by God of our debts and can walk freely into the fullness of His promises for us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy that endures forever and Your faithfulness to forgive my trespasses against You as I forgive those who trespass against me.  Help me Lord to always be mindful of the great price that You paid for my debts at the cross so that I can walk in freedom, grace, and mercy with You and others all of the days of my life. I love you Jesus! Amen!

GRACE (Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment)

Quote: “The ‘better than good’ life is lived by those who have passion for changing the world they live in!” – Zig Ziglar

Wow! Have you ever thought about changing the world you live in?  Unfortunately, if you don’t ever think about it, there isn’t much chance you ever will.  Now I know you’re probably asking, “Who is this guy anyway?  What does he know about changing the world?”  I’m glad you asked.  And if you give me a moment, I’ll help you understand world-changing power.  It’s really a simple dynamic truth much like the dynamic truth of gravity.  The law of gravity ensures that what goes up, must come down, without fail.  Planes go up, planes come down.  Footballs go up, footballs come down.  Gravity works, always.  If the law of gravity weren’t true always, we would be in a heck of a fix, right?  Just imagine driving a car, if gravity worked some days and some days it didn’t.  There is a world changing power that operates just like gravity – true always and without fail.  This powerful truth is found in the power of words.

The simple truth of word power is that words create and change the everyday world we live in. “Say what?” Exactly!  What you say will create the world you experience.  Proverbs 18:21 states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”  This means that the words you speak have the supernatural force of creation to release the blessing of life or the curse of death in your present and future world.  Now that’s a Big Bang theory!  In Genesis 1:3, “God said, ‘let there be light’; and there was light.”  If God created the world by the Word He spoke, then the same is true for us who He created in His image – we create the condition of our world by the words we speak.

To more fully understand this dynamic, you must gain an appreciation for the life cycle of words.  Words create thoughts, thoughts produce feelings, feelings inspire choices, choices generate actions, actions determine habits, habits develop character, character builds destiny, and destiny breeds legacy.  Therefore, your personal legacy, your family legacy, and your team legacy – all legacies come alive with words first spoken into existence.  Show me the words you speak and I will show you the legacy you birth for yourself and future generations.  I know this sounds too incredible to be true, however, it is true.

I also know the power of negative words that can bombard your mind and cast doubtful thoughts on this simple truth.  “My words don’t really matter. I’m just one person among billions. How can I change the world? I can’t really make a difference in life.”  When this happens, simply change those words of doubt and negativity by believing that one person (you) plus God equals a majority.  Romans 8:31 states that “If God be for you, who can be against you.”  The word of can’t seeks to paralyze you with a spirit of fear, stealing your destiny in God, and preventing you from building His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Don’t just let it happen. With a spirit of faith and humility, change the world you live in by fighting the good fight of faith and believing the Word of the Lord in Philippians 4:13 that says, “I can do all things [make it happen] through Christ who strengthens me.”

The Value Of A Day

Scripture

Psalm 90:12  “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Observation

In the passages of Scripture in Psalm 90, the Psalmist meditates on the eternal everlasting existence of God and recognizes the vapor of time that a person actually lives on earth in comparison.  To God, a thousand years are as a day when they are past; whereas, the days of our natural lives on earth are only 70 or 80 short years and when they are past, they are gone forever.

Application

Like a pebble of sand on the combined seashores of the earth is our life in comparison to the eternity of God; therefore, we must appreciate and value each day we are given to live on earth as a rare and precious gift from God.  We are only given one opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others with each day of our life that comes and goes like the passing of a ship at night. If we fail to appropriately value and passionately live on purpose each moment of each day of our life, the allotted number of our days may come and go without the complete fulfillment of our God-given destiny and purpose.

Prayer

Thank You Lord for each new day that you give me to live life in the fullness of Christ.  Because Your mercies are new every morning, I thank You for the opportunity to begin a fresh new day to live the abundant life that You died to give me.  As Your Word declares Lord, “This is the day that You have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Help me Lord to be a wise steward of this day and each new day that You give me to live my life on purpose and make a lasting impact for Your kingdom. I love you Jesus! Amen!

The Make It Happen Moment ® Dare To Live

Quote: “Will you dare to live like you mean it?” – Joyce Meyer

To live life like you mean it, you may have to do life like you have never done it before.  Have you ever heard it said that “we are human beings, not human doings?”  As I have pondered this statement regarding my personal life, I believe there is real truth in it, especially concerning the sufficiency of the grace of God in salvation; however, I don’t think the statement fully represents the way God thinks about human beings saved by grace through faith.  In fact, in James 1:22, the Lord commands us to “be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves.”  To fulfill this command as humans, we must therefore be “human doers” of what God says to do.  Jesus, being fully God and fully human, provided the perfect leadership example of “human doing” when He walked the earth as a man.  The things that people read about in the Holy Scriptures on Sunday, Jesus actually did as a person everyday of the week in the power and strength of God.  So while He was God, He also wholeheartedly did everything God said to do as a human.

Taking this another step further, did you know that “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us?” (John 1:1, 14)  With the truth of God’s Word made evident in the human birth of Jesus, we can conclude that being a human doer of the Word also means being a human doer of God because the Word was God.  More simply stated, just like Jesus, we become the human hands and feet of God to do the mighty exploits of God as we surrender ourselves to the truth of His Word and do what He says to do.

Therefore, do something today that perhaps you may have never done before…trust God to be the source of your strength and embrace life with a new determination to be all that He created you to be and do all that He has purposed for you to do!  I know you may not think or feel like you can do this.  That’s ok, because the Lord already knows that we can’t do this in our own strength which is why He encourages us in Philippians 4:13 by telling us “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.”  So don’t look to yourself for the strength alone to live this life with passion and purpose.  Simply look to God, believe what He says, and step out in faith to do all you can do in Christ to boldly live life like you mean it, trusting God to do what you cannot do along the way!  In so doing, with a spirit of faith and excellence, you will be daring to live life on purpose in the power and strength of our Lord as a passionate doer of God on earth today!

The One Who Serves

Scripture

Luke 22:27  “For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I [Jesus] am among you as the One who serves.” NKJV

Observation

In these passages of Scripture, the Lord is responding to a dispute among the disciples regarding who should be considered the greatest.  Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, does not rebuke them for thinking that they could be great in the kingdom, but rather, as the One who serves, the Lord teaches them by the model of His own life how to be great in His kingdom through serving.

Application

Asking God if we can be great in the kingdom of God is not the greatest question to ask the Lord because it really isn’t a matter of whether or not we can be great in His kingdom.  Being created in His image, God created us with greatness in mind; however, as children of God and disciples of the Lord, we must walk the same pathway to greatness in the kingdom that Jesus walked – which is the pathway of humbly serving others like Jesus, our King of kings and Lord of lords.

Prayer

Thank You Lord for the good plan that You have for me in Your kingdom – plans for good and not harm, a future and a hope.  Help me Lord, by the power of your Holy Spirit, to humbly walk the pathway to greatness in Your kingdom by walking the pathway of service to others as one who serves just like You.  I love you Jesus! Amen!

See You At The Office Marketplace Prayer Movement

God Whispered…See You At The Office…

Pray For Our Nation

It was during the See You At The Pole student prayer movement when I heard the Lord whisper to me, “If students can gather together at their schools to pray for the nation and their schools, why can’t business people gather together at their offices to pray for the nation and their companies?” At first, I just contemplated the question, and after awhile, I honestly didn’t think much more about it until the See You At The Pole student prayer movement came back around the next year.  Once again, I heard the Lord quietly whisper to my heart the same question He asked me the year before.  “If students can gather together at their schools to pray for the nation and their schools, why can’t business people gather together at their offices to pray for the nation and their companies?”

This time I didn’t have to think long about it before answering, “Lord, I don’t see any good reason why business people can’t gather at their offices to pray for our nation and our companies and I see many good reasons why we should.  If You would like me to initiate a grass-roots national prayer movement in business, I will do it; however, You will need to give me the name and the date to do it each year.” So as I prayed about this matter, the Lord impressed upon me to name this marketplace prayer movement, See You At The Office, and He directed that it be held 2 days each year during the week of July 14th (2 days during 7/14) in response to His promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 which states, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Therefore, in obedience to the Lord, it is my sincere pleasure to personally invite you to join me for the annual See You At The Office marketplace prayer movement by uniting with me in prayer during the week of July 14th to pray for our nation, our companies, and our teams. To join me, all you have to do is find an appropriate location at your office where you and your colleagues can request permission to pray sometime before work, during lunch, or after work on any 2 days during the week of July 14th. If for any reason you are not able to host a prayer meeting at your office, then please join me via open line conference from your office for 15 min of marketplace prayer during the week of July 14th at 12:00 pm CST Monday through Friday by calling (530) 881-1212 and entering Meeting ID: 293-389-546.

Together, with a spirit of faith and unity, we can change the marketplace and our nation through prayer! So if you want to see God move in a powerful way in our nation through the marketplace, I ask that you please do three simple things:

  1. Mark your calendar for 2 days during the week of July 14th at 12 noon CST and plan to join me via the conference line above for 15 minutes of See You At The Office marketplace prayer.
  2. Follow See You At The Office information updates at www.twitter.com/SeeUatTheOffice
  3. Share the information from this post with your friends and colleagues to invite them to join the See You At The Office marketplace prayer movement by hosting a prayer gathering at their respective offices as well.

Thank you and I will See You At The Office!

To the glory of God, have a blessed “Make It Happen” day!

The Marketplace Ministry I See

The Vision:

To Connect Leadership Passion With Kingdom Purpose In Today’s Marketplace!

The Mission:

To Practically Engage, Equip, Empower, and Encourage Marketplace Leaders To Build The Kingdom Of God In The Marketplace For God’s Glory And The Benefit Of Others.

The Strategic Objectives:

To Build The Kingdom Of God In The Marketplace For God’s Glory And The Benefit Of Others Through 1) Local Advance Initiatives, 2) Global Advance Initiatives, 3) Marketplace Prayer Initiatives, And 4) Marketplace Coaching Initiatives

  1. Local Advance Initiatives focus on the development of marketplace leaders through weekly faith-based leadership development meetings, exclusive leadership development retreats, and annual leadership development conferences for marketplace leaders in the community.
  2. Global Advance Initiatives focus on business missions outreach and leadership development of business leaders in the marketplace around the world through faith-based business seminars and leadership development conferences.
  3. Marketplace Prayer Initiatives focus on the grass roots establishment of a national prayer movement in the marketplace called See You At The Office for 2 days during the week of July 14th where marketplace leaders unite in prayer for their teams, company, and our nation at their respective offices in response to God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14.
  4. Marketplace Coaching Initiatives focus on developing faith-based marketplace coaches to walk alongside marketplace leaders and provide faith-based leadership coaching in the marketplace through a practical 4-step organizational development strategy to effectively build the kingdom of God in the marketplace.

Kingdom Mandate For The Marketplace:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20

Kingdom Promise For The Marketplace:

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Kingdom Inspiration For Marketplace Leaders:

“While righteousness in a nation undoubtedly begins with the commitment of individuals to Christ, more souls and more churches alone will not make it holy. Godliness comes when a nation’s Christians make it their all-consuming passion to see God’s glory reflected in every domain of the land, its arts, sciences, media, government, schools, businesses, families-in every domain. Unless they do, their salvation will benefit only them personally, and Christ’s laws and principles will not guide their nation as He intended them to do.” – Douglas Layton, author of Our Father’s Kingdom

Symbolically, we are seated with Christ on His throne (Ephesians 1:20; 2:6), told to reign in life (Romans 5:17), we are instructed to extend His scepter (Psalm 110) and are given keys of kingdom authority with which to bind and loose, forbid and allow (Matthew 16:19). We are kings and queens—royalty. And whereas priests “offer up” to heaven [through priestly intercessory prayer], kings “proclaim” [the kingdom rule and will of God] downward to earth [through kingly intercessory prayer].  – Dutch Sheets, author of Authority In Prayer

Kingdom Values For The Marketplace:

Make It Happen Team Values provide a practical leadership framework to build the kingdom of God in the marketplace for God’s glory and the benefit of others. With Make It Happen Team Values, business leaders can create team cultures of empowerment that unleash the extraordinary God-given potential of “make it happen” people in the kingdom of God to make a real difference in life. “The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Daniel 11:32.

Practical 4- Step Organizational Development Strategy To Build God’s Kingdom In The Marketplace For His Glory And The Benefit Of Others

1)      Culture Development

The culture of an organization, intentional or unintentional, reflects the values of the organization and will drive everything in the organization.  Emphasizing the organizational strength and power of culture, Dr. Sam Chand, author of Cracking Your Church’s Culture Code, says “Culture will eat vision for lunch!”  To build an organizational culture that reflects the values of the kingdom of God in the marketplace, leaders must intentionally develop the culture with practical faith-based values communicated in the make-it-happen language of the marketplace. Make It Happen Team Values practically equip and empower marketplace leaders with a simple and effective team values framework to intentionally develop the culture of a team and organization where vision flourishes, people are empowered, and the kingdom of God is built in the marketplace. The culture development step includes leadership training in the areas of vision casting, values definition, values training and certification, and corporate communication.

2)      Chemistry Development

While the culture of an organization reflects the values of an organization, the chemistry of an organization reflects the unity of the organization. When an organization is unified in values and purpose, teamwork is built and enhanced for the greatest good of all stakeholders.  Ecclesiastes 4:12 states, “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken”, therefore, it is clear from the Bible that a unified team cannot be easily broken or destroyed. The chemistry development step includes leadership training in the areas of employee engagement, employee recruitment, employee recognition, and employee ambassadorship.

3)      Competency Development

The strength of an organization is established on the foundation of its people. If the people in the organization are strong and competent, the organization will be strong and competent.  Therefore, it is imperative that an organization develop an effective process to continually build strong and competent people in the organization. The competency development step includes leadership training in the areas of goal setting, performance evaluation, leadership coaching, and employee development.

4)      Character Development

The influence of an organization rises and falls on the influence of its leaders and the influence of leaders rises and falls on the character of leaders. Therefore, to develop an organization with great influence, an organization must develop great leaders with great character. The character development step includes leadership training in the areas of leadership thinking, leadership ethics, leadership principles, and leadership practices.

The Make It Happen Moment ® Constancy Of Purpose

Quote: “One of the greatest services a leader can provide to his or her followers is constancy of purpose!” – Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges

Did you ever consider that your constancy of purpose is actually an act of great servant leadership?   I have learned from reading Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges’ book titled, Lead Like Jesus, that great servant leaders seek to give people all of the wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual resources needed to be successful on their journey.  I have come to understand that a leader without constancy of purpose leads like a ship without a rudder…directionless and adrift.

Think about a compass for a moment.  No matter where you may find yourself on a journey, the compass faithfully points true north.  It provides a natural constant, which never changes, allowing a navigator to successfully find his or her way through any terrain, geography, or region.  As a leader, your constancy of purpose becomes a compass for your team.  It provides direction and comfort to the members of your team during times of change and adversity because they know constant purpose will lead the way regardless of the circumstances or changing conditions facing the team.  With such constancy of purpose, the team is given direction that faithfully points toward their destiny. Just imagine the chaos and confusion a faulty compass would impose upon a journeyman lost in the wilderness if the compass north was actually east one day, west another, and true north only a portion of the time.  Shifting purpose does the same thing for a team.  It imprisons the team to a wilderness experience around the same mountain rather than guiding the team on an adventurous journey from summit to summit.  In leadership, your constancy of purpose makes the difference for your team when you speak it and live it on the way to each mountain top and through every valley.

Habakkuk 2:2 states, “write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”  Notice the command of God to write the vision on tablets.  Written vision offers constancy of purpose that empowers people to run with confidence the race set before them.  According to Psalm 119:105, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”; therefore, with a spirit of faith and commitment, study God’s Word, the one true compass for life, to discover and renew the Lord’s direction for you and your team.  When you do, He will provide constancy of purpose that allows you to serve others with the greatest acts of servant leadership on your team’s journey!

The Old Is Better

Scripture

Luke 5:38-39 “But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.'”

Observation

In these passages of Scripture, we see the Lord teaching his disciples about the making of wine.  He explains that new wine must be put into new wineskins otherwise the old wineskins would burst and the new wine would be lost.  He then shares the fact that old wine is in fact better than new wine because of the aging process.

Application

This process for making wine illustrates the process that we go thru in maturing as a Christian.  Once we are born again, we must take off the old man and put on the new man because old things have past away and all things have become new.  As we mature and grow in Christ, God sanctifies us in Him with the tests and trials of life helping to “age” us in faith and spiritual maturity.  Once we are born again and our lives have grown in faith and maturity, even through failure, the aged wine of our lives gained through the maturing process can never be put into a new wineskin again and the aged wine gained through our growing life experience is far superior than when we were first born again.  We are born again with salvation once and never again.  From that time forward we begin to age and mature with the aged wine of our lives always becoming better in God even if we have failed Him along the way.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for loving me so much that You gave Your life for me and have never given up on me.  As I walk through life, I welcome Your Holy Spirit to teach me, lead me, and correct me that I may become sanctified in Christ.  I love you Jesus!
